Toy Kingdom hosts ‘Force Friday II’ event to launch Star Wars toys tied to ‘The Last Jedi’ film

In line with a worldwide campaign to promote “The Last Jedi,” the latest installment of the Star Wars franchise, Toy Kingdom has partnered with Disney for “Force Friday II,” a global event that unveiled toys and merchandise inspired by the upcoming film.

Held simultaneously in 12 countries and 15 cities, the Philippine version of “Force Friday II” took place at the SM Mall of Asia Atrium where Star Wars enthusiasts, toy collectors, cosplayers and several celebrities gathered at the stroke of midnight of September 1 to welcome the newest line of Star Wars toys and collectibles including limited edition items.

“Force Friday II” was actually a throwback to the 2015 global event that also simultaneously happened in 12 countries and 15 cities. That year, Star Wars enthusiasts also gathered at SM Mall of Asia at 12 midnight to witness the unveiling of toys and merchandise tied to the eventual Star Wars blockbuster film, “The Force Awakens.”

The upcoming “The Last Jedi” is the eighth movie in the Star Wars saga and marks the return of Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker and also features returning stars of “The Force Awakens” like Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o and in her final completed film, the late Carrie Fisher as Leia Organa.

Directed by Rian Johnson (“Looper,” “Breaking Bad,”), “The Last Jedi” is set to open in theaters worldwide this December.
