Days after the Victoria’s Secret show, Filipino American model Kelsey Merritt made another milestone in her career by being part of the sought-after video series by Vogue, a prominent fashion magazine.

Merritt joins the likes of Rihanna, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Taylor Hill and Drew Barrymore in Vogue’s Beauty Secrets series on YouTube.

The 22-year-old model first expressed her excitement on Instagram and described it as a tick off her “bucket list.” She also shared a preview of it on her post.

“I never imagined I would ever work with Vogue, so this is another one off of my bucket list!! I’m in tears of joy right now,” Merritt said.

The native of Pampanga guided her viewers through her daily beauty routine in the eight-minute video. She wore a similar makeup look that she did her during Victoria’s Secret casting call.

For Merritt, taking care of the skin is paramount before doing any makeup.

“Just listen to your skin and see what it needs,” she said.

Coconut, a plant endemic to warm countries such as the Philippines, is a staple in Merritt’s routine, whether it be coconut oil or water.

She also showed here that she uses an aloe plant to keep her lips and her scalp healthy, rather than processed ones used in many skincare products.

For her makeup, she prefers it a more natural look. She says the style highlights the best qualities of her face rather than covering them up.

“I don’t like hiding my freckles because they’re my favorite part of my face,” she said.

She developed her skills in makeup and skin care by observing how makeup artists do it on other models and asking them for advice as well.

Aside from Vogue, Merritt has been featured in its magazine for teenagers, Teen Vogue.

Vogue’s Beauty Secrets

Based on Vogue’s YouTube channel, Merritt would be the 65th celebrity featured in Beauty Secrets.

In every episode, popular faces in pop culture bare their beauty secrets and share their own routines.

Victoria’s Secret models, actresses and musicians appeared in this short online video series.

Filipino pride

Merritt admitted in the clip how being a Victoria’s Secret model was not only a dream come true for her, but for her family as well.

“It means a lot to me and the people back home because they’ve always wanted a Philippine model to walk. It’s not just success for me—it’s also success for them,” she said.

Last November 9, Merritt posted photos on social media on how much she enjoyed her runway walk debut at the prestigious Victoria’s Secret fashion show.
