Earlier reports of Superman actor Henry Cavill’s decision to leave the DC Movie franchise are now cast in doubt after a mysterious Instagram post and a message from his manager.

Entertainment journal The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday evening released a story on the British actor’s departure from his role as the world’s favorite superhero after talks broke down between his managers and Warner Bros.

The media outfit said that anonymous sources told them that conflicts arising from Warner’s development of a movie focusing on Supergirl, another DC Comics favorite, led to the disagreement between the parties.

The same story cites anonymous sources that revealed scheduling conflicts involving Cavill’s role in the forthcoming adaptation of hit video game “The Witcher” and his planned cameo in next year’s DC movie “Shazam” may have also been factors.

Neither Warner nor Cavill have issued any public statement on the matter. A tweet from Cavill’s manager Dany Garcia has also raised doubts on the report.

Cavill later posted a cryptic message on his Instagram account that neither confirmed or denied the reports.

With comic book fans and media left in the dark, Superman fans are displeased with the idea of the franchise losing its actor.

Some fans however are just as confused as the rest of the world.

Rumors about Cavill’s replacement have swirled since the initial report, including one story on Warner Bros. eyeing Michael B. Jordan, who played villain Kilmonger in Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther,” to take up the role of the Man of Steel.

Unconfirmed reports of Cavill’s “Justice League” co-actor Ben Affleck quitting his role as the DC Films’ Batman have also spread.

Affleck, a veteran actor, director and producer was recently checked into a rehabilitation facility after a recent bout with alcoholism.

Neither actor has confirmed the reports as of this writing.

The 35-year old Cavill entered the DC world in 2013 when he was tapped to play Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman in “Man of Steel.”

He reprised the role in “Superman: Dawn of Justice” in 2016 and “Justice League” in 2017.

“Justice League” despite being marketed as DC Films’ flagship movie franchise received lukewarm reviews and failed to meet box office expectations following a strong opening weekend.
