KIDAPAWAN CITY, Philippines — Anti-narcotics agents, backed by soldiers and police, raided on Monday a state college in Cotabato province, seizing almost P500,000 in drugs and several firearms from the home of the school president and arresting five members of his staff.

Dr. Samson Molao, president of the Cotabato Foundation College for Science and Technology in Doroluman, Arakan town, was not at home during the raid led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency early Monday morning.

Levi Ortiz, director of the PDEA’s Special Enforcement Service, who was deployed from the agency’s office for the operation, said Molao is now being hunted by their agents, police and military personnel.

“We came here all the way from Manila because there is very strong information about the involvement of the school president in illegal drugs trade,” Ortiz told reporters.

The weapons seized from Molao’s house included AK-47, M-14 AND M-16 assault rifles.

Arakan is a mountain town some 164 kilometers from Cotabato City.
