MANILA, Philippines — Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno has ordered the national flag flown at half-staff in all courts across the country from Tuesday, June 13, to Friday, June 16, to show “solidarity with the families of all Filipinos who have been killed in the current situation in Marawi City.”

“The colors of the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, Sandiganbayan, and Court of Tax Appeals shall also be flown at half-staff for the same duration,” the order said.

The order was issued the same day the high court hears oral arguments on petitions challenging President Rodrigo Duterte’s declaration of martial law in Mindanao soon after fighting broke out between government forces and gunmen from the Maute and Abu Sayyaf groups three weeks ago.
