MANILA, Philippines - The death toll from flashfloods spawned by three hours of rains in Davao City on Tuesday night has risen to 27, with four more reported missing as of late Thursday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported.
Nearly half, or 13 of the fatalities were children, including two infants.
In its 6 p.m. bulletin, the NDRRMC said 23 of the fatalities were from Matina Crossing, two from Matina Pangi, one from Talomo, and one from Matina Aplaya. All of them died due to drowning. The fatalities were identified as:

10. Angelita E. Paches 65 yrs. old
11. Melchin Soreño 2 yrs. old
12. Alexis Baricuatro 4 yrs. old
13. Alexandria Baricuatro 8 yrs. old
14. Adora Baricuatro 26 yrs. old
15. Tito Servedad 53 yrs. old
16. Beth Amatos 7 yrs. old
17. Carl Andre Oliveros 9 months

Four more persons, mostly children, remain missing:

The sudden rains caused by an existing Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) triggered flashfloods, damaging 264 houses in the Matina Crossing area.
"According to the affected residents, it was the first time they experienced floodwaters that are more or less 10 feet deep," the NDRRMC said.
The NDRRMC estimated the total amount of damage at P11 million.
