MANILA, Philippines - The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) caught on surveillance camera a driver of an SUV poking a gun at the driver of a truck during an altercation along EDSA near Monte de Piedad in Quezon City.
In the MMDA video footage, the SUV was seen cutting into the lane of the truck. After a few minutes, the SUV driver was seen banging the truck’s hood and getting into an altercation with the truck driver.
Tan then pointed a gun at the truck driver who immediately left the scene of the altercation.
Police who were nearby immediately arrested the driver of the SUV identified as Rafael Dayto Tan.
It was learned that the gun that Tan used in pointing at the truck driver was just a toy gun.
Tan claimed that he pointed the gun in self defense after the truck driver wielded a jungle bolo.
Authorities are trying to determine the owner of the SUV with the personalized license plate “CHO 01”.
The SUV has been impounded and Tan was released after the truck driver failed to appear to file a complaint against him within the 12-hour regulamentary period.
But once the complainant appears, Tan will be criminally charged with grave threat.
