MANILA, Philippines - Police are hunting for the suspect in the killing of a traffic enforcer following an altercation with the suspect in Quezon City last Friday, Sept. 30.
In a CCTV video footage, the traffic enforcer, identified as Ernesto Paras Jr., was seen waiting for the driver of a black car that was double parked on La Salle Street in Barangay Silangan. Paras had confiscated the car’s license plate for double parking.
Moments later, the car’s driver appeared and the two men talked briefly. Then the driver shortly went to the car and got a gun and started shooting at Paras. The traffic enforcer was able to run but the driver chased him and hammered him with the gun.
Seeing that Paras was already unconscious, the driver quickly got into the car and ran over Paras as he sped off.
The car was later found abandoned on Saturday in Antipolo City. But its ownership was traced by the Land Transportation Office to a company that had been closed since 2012.
Paras’ widow said they had no other source of income and prayed that the suspect will be apprehended immediately.
